Numbers 2:1-3:51
Numbers 2:17
Notice the Tabernacle was to be set out in the middle of the camp.
Numbers 2:33
The Levites were not included in the census because they were not to fight.
Numbers 3:1-4
Nadab and Abihu were killed by God because of their disobedience regarding their actions in the tabernacle.
Numbers 3:10
The Tabernacle was holy and sanctified. We as the temple of the Holy Spirit should walk in holiness. We should also show respect to the church sanctuary/altar.
Mark 11:27-12:17
Mark 11:27-33, Mark 12:1-12
Jesus many times asked rhetorical questions, parables, stories to get people to think. Jesus was making it clear that He was not submitting to false leaders.
Mark 12:13-17
From this passage it is clear that we should obey the laws of the land unless they violate Scripture.
Psalm 47:1-9
Rejoice, God ultimately rules and reigns. He will subdue our enemies.
Proverbs 10:24-25
When storms come in life, the righteous will still stand
Testing to see if Twitter Integration feature works on CBS blog.
Some have asked if we offer a Follow feature for CBS blogs. The concept is that everytime a blogger posts, their followers would be notified. We do not have that feature, but if we can get the Twitter Integration to work, it will do the same thing.
Update: The Twitter feature works.
Leviticus 27:14-Numbers 1:54
Leviticus 27:26-28
The first born animal automatically belongs to God unless it has defect. This is powerful. With this guideline, it would be easy for an Israelite to understand the principle of tithing and giving of the first fruits. Instead, most of us are raised that everything belongs to us and we give God the leftovers.
Numbers 1:1-54
If you are not careful, when you start to read passages like this, you say to yourself 'who cares', 'it is boring'. But notice vs 47-54. The Levites (priests) were special. They were not part of the census (they were not included as men who would be available for war or work). They were set apart as holy. They were the only ones that could enter the Tabernacle. They were to protect the people like the other men, but their protection was to protect the people form God's anger. Tell me something. Why do so many people today show disrespect to men of God? Why do so many pastors have to work secular jobs to earn income for their families? This should not be. Many church members make the gathering of possessions more important than supporting the ministry.
Yes there are dishonest, greedy pastors, but for every greedy pastor there are hundreds of pastors who are sacrificing everyday for the Kingdom.
Leviticus 25:47-27:13
Leviticus 25:47-55
Wow, talk about redemption. Notice the passage says the Israelites belong to God. I belong to God, not the devil. I am walking in the year of jubilee, devil you have to let me go, I belong to God.
Leviticus 26:1-13
There will be blessings if we obey God.
Leviticus 26:14-39
There are many more curses than blessings if we disobey God. So, why in the world would a person willingly continually disobey God-it is guaranteed to lead to a path of destruction.
Leviticus 26:40-46
In spite of the nation's rebellion, God says they will repent so that He may keep His covenant with them. My prayer would be if anyone reading this devotional needs to repent, they will do it.
Leviticus 27:1-13
You will notice that women were not worth as much as men. Is that what God feels? No, Galatians states there is neither male nor female, slave or master in the eyes of God. Throughout the Scripture you see God deals with the nation with where they are at for the moment. Women had little value in Old Testament times among ALL the nations. Because there were many issues to address, the mindset towards women was 'winked at'. Just like polygamy. But these issues were addressed at a later time. is there not things God 'winks at' in your life because there are more important issues at the moment?
Because God appears to ignore something does not mean it is OK or that you are getting away with evil. If you don't repent there will be consequences. However, at the moment there are other issues that if not addressed will bring even more destruction.
Here is something to remember, your sin will ultimately be revealed if not addressed at some point.
I know some of you are just reading this email and not the passages each day. That is great! There are some good nuggets from the Scriptures each day. If you were to read the passages each day you would be reading around three chapters of the Bible each day. This may seem not much reading, but in reality it is only a few minutes a day. Even in my very busy schedule I find the time to read the chapters each day (believe me, everything tells me I don’t have time). I want to challenge each of you to try for the month of March to read the passages each day. Yes, you will miss some days. That is OK, at least you got more Bible reading than what you may have had in the past.
Why read the entire passages each instead just my commentary? So, you can get the context of the passages. So, you can see if what I am saying is correct. So, you can gain your own insights. So, you can get more familiar with the Bible. So you can renew your mind by reading he Word of God.
Leviticus 22:17-23:44
Leviticus 22:17-33
All offering had to be without defect. That is why Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, had to be sinless.
Each of these festivals were to be reminders to the Israelites of what God had done for them. Each of these festivals point to what Jesus has accomplished for believers. Some would argue that the symbolism that the Feast of Tabernacles points to has not been fulfilled yet. The reason is because earth is not our home. We are wandering here on earth until we reach home-heaven.
Leviticus 20:22-22:16
Leviticus 20:22-24
This verse helps explain why there were all these guidelines, consequences, etc. Israel was to be separate/different from the people around them to receive the blessings God had for them. God wanted a nation of people who would walk in holiness. Thus all the things listed, including homosexuality, were the opposite of holiness.
Leviticus 21
Some of the guidelines may not make sense to us, but the underlying principle was for the priests to walk in holiness.
Leviticus 22:1-16
The priests were to be careful how they handle the offerings. Today, pastors need to be careful how they handle tithes and offerings.
Mark 9:2-29
Mark 9:10
The disciples could not grasp the concept that Jesus was going to die, which means they had no concept of Him being raised from the dead. Is there things that God hints at to us but we do not grasp what He is saying? Maybe there are promises He has gien us but we do not see how they can happen.
Mark 9:17-18
The disciples could not cast out the demon, we find out why in vs 29.
Mark 9:22-24
The father had some doubt if Jesus could heal his son(because others had prayed for him and nothing changed). The man asked Jesus to help him overcome his unbelief. Because of past experiences we my have unbelief, lets ask Jesus to help us overcome our unbelief.
Mark 9:29
Most Bibles have prayer and fasting. However in the original Greek, the word fasting is not there. It is obvious that Jesus was saying serious prayer needs to take place. If we are seriously praying about something there will probably be some fasting taking place also.
Psalm 43:1-5
God is on our side (if we are walking in integrity and purity) even when we feel like He isn't.
Proverbs 10:18
We should walk in integrity and honesty-not be phony
